Perry Kretz is a German-American photojournalist. His work focuses on military conflicts in Liberia, Ruanda, Congo, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq. Kretz’s photographs have garnered three awards from the World Press Photo Foundation.
 

Material:
44 images of the Sandinista Revolution in Nicaragua. They document the guerrilla fighters of the Sandinista National Liberation Front as they marched into Managua and the suffering of the civilian population. The collection also contains images of keys figures from the era, such as Eden Pastora, Sergio Ramírez, Nora Astorga and Anastasio Somoza.
 
Provenance: gift from Perry Kretz to the IAI in 1999 (exhibition Los muchachos de la Revolución Sandinista at the IAI 22.10.99 – 24.11.99).
