Stübel, Alphons (1835-1904)
Alphons Stübel was a German natural scientist and geologist (volcanologist). Stübel went on numerous expeditions, including trips around the Mediterranean, to the West African islands and subsequently to South America with Wilhelm Reiss (1868-1877). During his travels he conducted studies on the geological conditions of the Andes in Columbia, Ecuador and Peru. His collections are now housed at various German institutes.
