Asmus, Julius (1829-1909)
Julius Asmus was a German physician, mathematician and explorer (Batavia/Indonesia, 1849-50). Around 1865 Asmus started working at a school in Valparaíso (Chile), where he stayed for close to ten years. He returned to Berlin in mid-1880 after being appointed to the Hydrographic Institute of the Imperial Naval Office.
