Castro Arenas, Mario (1932)
Mario Castro Arenas is a Peruvian journalist, literary scholar and writer. He was a member of the Alianza Popular Revolucionaria Americana (APRA) and lived in exile in Venezuela from 1974 to 1980. During the presidency of Alán García (1980-1985), he held the position of Asesor de prensa para la imagen internacional (government press advisor). In 1983 he was a member of the commission appointed to investigate the murder of eight journalists in Uchuraccay. He worked for the Peruvian papers La Prensa and El Comercio and was editor-in-chief of the newspaper El Correo from 1962 to 1966 and from 1980 to 1982.
