Three gables




Hagen, Hermann B. (1889-1976)

In 1930 Hermann B. Hagen was appointed director of the library of the Ibero-American Institute (IAI) of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation in Berlin and IAI director from 1946 to 1957. He travelled around Mexico from 1927 to 1928 and acquired an extensive range of books. This collection of approx. 25,000 volumes became part of the IAI when it was founded in 1930. Hagen was the IAI library’s first director. From 1952 to 1960 he made numerous trips to Spain.
