Killermann, Matthias Sebastian (1870-1956)
Matthias Sebastian Killermann was a German natural scientist and botanist who specialized in mycology. He studied and classified extensive fungal collections from Venezuela for the Botanische Sammlung München (Munich Botanical Collection). His research focused on medicinal and hallucinogenic fungi, fungal floristics and the history of mycology. Killermann helped found the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Mykologie (German Mycology Society) and a journal on mycology (“Zeitschrift für Pilzkunde”).
