Grosse, Charlotte (1856-1916)
Charlotte Grosse was a German translator who translated from German into English and English into German. From 1884 to 1896 she lived in the US (Philadelphia), where she gave talks on German literature at the Young Men´s Christian Association (Christlicher Verein Junger Menschen, YMCA) in Germantown. Charlotte Grosse was married to the archaeologist Max Uhle and translated Uhle’s works into English. Grosse’s personal papers and correspondence can also be found in Max Uhle’s papers and manuscripts.
