Whorf, Benjamin Lee (1897-1941)

Benjamin Lee Whorf was a cultural anthropologist and linguist from the US, who had originally studied chemistry. His research focused on ethnolinguistic studies of indigenous languages, in particular Hopi, Uto-Aztecan and Mayan languages.

Material:

  • 1 manuscript (on the publication of “First Steps in the Decipherment of Maya Writing”, place and year unspecified, 104 sheets; also available at the IAI as a microfilm and microfilm photocopy. The microfilm is thought to be a typed transcript of the handwritten version.)
