Three gables

Albert, Max (1833-1882); Albert, Federico (1867-1928); Albert, Totila (1892-1967)

Max Albert was a German zither player. Federico Albert was a German-Chilean scientist who worked with a number of other German scientists at the Instituto Pedagógico de la Universidad de Chile (Santiago de Chile). His work on the environment led to the establishment of the Inspección General de Bosques, Pesca y Caza (Inspectorate-General for Forestry, Fisheries and Hunting) by the Chilean Ministry of Industry. Tótila Albert, Federico Albert’s son, was a Chilean sculptor. At the beginning of the 20th century he studied at the Academy of Arts in Berlin, where he later had his first exhibitions. In 1929 he returned to Europe with the help of a scholarship from the Chilean state. He was forced to leave Germany in 1939 after his studio was ransacked. He left his papers and manuscripts and around 250 books to the Ibero-American Institute (IAI) of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation in Berlin.
